The sooner the better! My busy seasons are the spring & fall, so those weekends are usually booked with weddings. Since I am a full-time mom as well, I take limited portrait sessions during the week to manage my workload. So the sooner you can get on my calendar the better! I usually shoot two hours prior to sunset when the light is nice & warm but still bright enough for beautiful images! 

To reserve your date, I'll need a 50% non-refundable retainer and signed contract. The remaining balance is due 7 days prior to your session. Packages with multiple sessions will have a different payment plan. 

how far in advance should we book?

Unless you've modeled professionally, you're probably going to feel awkward in front of the camera. Heck, I take photos for a living and I even feel like a deer in the headlights when in front of the camera!

You're going to feel awkward at first, but as the session goes on and I coach you through images, I think you'll find that being photographed can actually be fun. And don't worry about your kids. I'm well versed in capturing even the busiest of little ones. If they just want to run away from the camera, run with them and make it fun! We're there to capture the authentic, fun, and lively family that you are so let's roll with it!

No one wants to look like a wet dog in their photos so if it looks like it's going to rain, snow, hail or some other weather catastrophe, I'll be in touch via email or phone to reschedule.

Often, when I'm scheduling our initial portrait session date, if it works for our calendars, I'll actually set up both a main date and a rain date just to make sure we don't have to postpone your session for very long if the weather is bad on the original date. 

what if it rains?

I deliver all images via an online gallery within 3-4 weeks of your session. The gallery is very user friendly and makes it very easy to view, download & order prints of your favorite images. You can share with family & friends, and even make selections that I can see for a fine art portrait album to serve as an heirloom piece for years to come. 

The most important thing is that the gallery is a method of delivery not storage so I encourage all of my clients to download their images ASAP. I keep all of the images on hard drives, but the gallery will only stay live for so long. There is a re-load fee if you fail to do so before the gallery expires. 

how do you deliver images?

Maternity sessions happen usually around the 30-34 week period. At that point, you're obviously very pregnant but not the point of being miserable. Obviously this is at the discretion of each mom, but that's what has worked best in the past! 

Newborn sessions tend to happen within the first couple of weeks when they're still sleepy & squishy! The older they get, the more alert they are and more likely to want to hang out and be awake the whole time. If your baby has FOMO and doesn't want to miss the fun, no worries! We'll roll with it! 

when do maternity & newborn sessions happen?

I really do, and here's why. I've been in your shoes of trying to do all of the things AND curl my hair AND put on fake eyelashes AND not get lipstick on my teeth. It ultimately leaves you feeling overwhelmed & rushed. So why not treat yourself to a hair & makeup session a few hours before your shoot to help you feel & look your best?! That way you can wrangle the crazies at home later but still look flawless thanks to the professionals who know what they're doing!
